Designing a system to empower Financial and Healthcare clients
When I was laid off from my job at Raken because of Covid, I was determined to find a way to continue pushing myself and my design system development skills. I was lucky enough to find a Lead Product Designer position with Syntellis, a company that provides financial planning software to healthcare, finance, and higher education institutions.
My job was to create a design system that matched the company's rebrand and I knew this would be no easy project. After auditing the company and understanding their product development process, I quickly realized that their legacy software was becoming a huge problem and their teams lacked a strong understanding of design and product development.
I knew I had to influence people with storytelling and visual communication to get everyone on board with the new design system. So, I began by creating a shared vision for the company. I crafted a story that aligned with leadership's needs and style. In this story I explained what we were doing, why where doing it, and how it was going to be tracked & measured.
To get the team better at Product Development I improve the company's design processes and create documentation that was easily understood by non-technical users. I ran workshops to understand the UX team's pain points and designed an iterative and design-thinking approach that allowed for efficient problem-solving and collaboration.
